Understanding a signal
The anatomy of a signal card, and what the importance score is actually weighing.

Every signal in the product has the same anatomy.
- The company it belongs to, with its logo where one could be found.
- A type, shown as a coloured tag: Funding, Hiring, Leadership, Product, Regulatory, News, Acquisition, Expansion, Partnership, Competitor, and General news.
- An importance score out of 100. Higher means a stronger reason to act, based on the signal type, how recent it is, and how well the company matches your ideal customer.
- A date, being when the event was detected.
- A source link, so you can read the original and judge for yourself.
Signals about the same event are bundled
If four outlets report the same funding round, you get one entry, not four. The entry names the strongest version and shows the others underneath as “also reported by”. This is why the feed is shorter than the raw article count.
- For events that happen once per day per company, such as a funding round, same day plus same company plus same type is treated as one event.
- For everything else the wording has to actually match, because a company can genuinely launch two products in a week.
If you see two entries that look similar but are not the same event, that is usually correct behaviour rather than a fault.
